Shipping to and from Hawaii can be a tricky scenario as in most cases transportation will involve both water and land transportation.

There are also some shipping requirements that need to be taken into account to ensure a proper and safe transportation.

 

Shipping overseas entitles the car leaving United States territory to re-enter, therefore cars need to pass through customs and need to be cleared in order to re-enter the country’s territory again. Taking care of paperwork cam be tedious, therefore its important that this is done with enough time in advance. There are cases where transportation needs can occur with an expedite urgency, however customs paperwork cannot be avoided , this may cause certain delays and inconveniences for given case,  therefore it is very important to know these things before expecting unrealistic things.

Although land car transportation can ship pretty much anything that has wheels and rolls, overseas transportation does not allow inoperable vehicles. Cars must be completely functioning in order to be shipped. Cars are shipped on huge ships that may not only transport cars, but containers of other items, it is enough hassle for operators to handle the transportation, dealing with an inoperable car adds on to this hassle, therefore it has been overruled.

 

As mentioned before, there is paperwork that needs to be taken care of in order to ship overseas to the Hawaiian Border or back; however each car has different forms to fill out.  This notice is specifically for cars that are under lease. If the car you need to ship is under lease, owner of the car will need to present aside from all other forms and paperwork, a notarized authorization letter either from dealer or finance company allowing the transportation of the vehicle.

 

Also all cars must have title and registration before shipping.
